Befriending

Jane Scarth House Butterfly logo

We have a team of approximately 25 volunteer Befrienders, all of whom have completed listening and responding skills training.

They are there to welcome anyone who comes in to the Centre and to listen in a non-judgemental way. Everything is kept in the strictest confidence.

You will always find a friendly face and a listening ear as well as a hot drink when you visit Jane Scarth House.

Our befriending is available at any time without appointment during our opening hours.

A quote from a Befriender:
‘Providing practical help and emotional support to people who are affected by Cancer is very rewarding. Volunteering at Jane Scarth House is a fulfilling way to make a difference in my community and I feel privileged to be part of the homely walk in centre in Romsey working with a wonderful team of caring colleagues’.

If you are interested in becoming a Befriender, please contact us.

Please contact the Centre on 01794 830374.

"The volunteers are absolutely brilliant…. when you’ve finished your treatment you are out on your own and very frightened. Thanks to Jane Scarth I have found the support I so desperately needed."

"The staff are so caring and understanding. I shall be forever grateful. From the moment I first walked in, I felt here is a place I can be me."
